AWAN-AFRIKA 1ST CONTINENTAL CONFERENCE AND #VALUE4HER B2B FAIR

The 1st Edition of AWAN-Afrika Continental Conference themed ‘The Role of Women and Youth in Agribusiness for Inclusive Market Transformation across Africa is scheduled to take place between 12th and 13th June 2019 at Raddison Blu, Nairobi, Kenya. The Continental Conference and B2B Fair is a platform for African women in Agribusiness to discuss specific trade and market related issues affecting the way they conduct their businesses, inform on advantages and new markets opportunities under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Additionally, it offers a platform for business-to-business deal making, for African women in Agribusiness under the Banner #VALUE4HER. The idea is to connect women businesses with producers, aggregators, brokers, processors, exporters, Agri-tech companies, investors and other value chain actors.

This gathering will include women in agribusiness from more than 27 African countries, development partners, public and private sector, business officials, International organizations and government officials.

During the conference, selected women and youth in agribusiness will be sharing their success stories and exhibiting in the various areas of the agric sector. Participants will be taken through practical and engaging sessions at the conference to enable them gain deeper insights into best practices as well as on how to take full advantage of the numerous opportunities in the agric sector for growth.

 

African Women Agribusiness Network Afrika (AWAN-Afrika) is a not for profit company limited by guarantee. The Network was established in 2003 with a vision to create a platform for African women in Agribusiness to access market, trade information and finance so as to become significant players in global trade. AWAN-Afrika subscribes to Agenda 2063 particularly the Malabo declaration on Agriculture and Agenda 2030 in developing a people driven, relying on potential of African people especially its women and youth. Globally, we are aligned to the SDGs.

AWAN-Afrika’s secretariat is based in Nairobi, Kenya. Our network comprises of individual members including #AWANUnder30, agribusiness groups, association and Agribusiness clubs across the continent. The organization provides women owned agribusinesses with a platform that facilitates women and youth inclusion in agribusiness, access to sustainable markets, trade information, innovative financing solutions, appropriate Agri-technology and opportunities to share what works.
